Felipe Garcia Coronado

Sculptor of great talent, comes from a family of artists. His father was a professor at the School of Arts and Crafts in Ciudad Real; his brother Antonio Lorenzo was also dedicated to sculpture, and his sister Nieves was watercolorist and painter. It was also the uncle of Joaquín García Donaire. He soon began frequenting the School of Arts and Crafts. He frequented the studio of Victorio Macho, who always considered his master. He won the competition to design a monument to Cervantes in Ciudad Real, which opened in 1927. In 1928 he painted a portrait of Edward Roosevelt, who in later years would encourage you to prepare a major exhibition in Paris, he would manage him. The exhibition was never realized because of the early death of the artist. One of his best works is the set of imaginary portraits known as "The busts of Don Quixote", which presents the most important Cervantes characters. Despite its short life, 35 years, Felipe García Coronado made ​​some of the most interesting sculptures of his time, full of strength and throb.
